Most signals missing. Ship the infrastructure first, then the content.

Why each signal counts
  • Answer-first TL;DR (<200 tokens) above the fold: Crawlers and answer engines extract the first passage; lead with the answer.
  • H2-bounded passages, one answer per H2: AI chunks at the passage, not the page.
  • /llms.txt exists at site root or under a known path: Directly machine-readable enumeration of pages.
  • robots.txt explicitly allows GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot: Don't gate the answer engines.
  • Per-page JSON-LD (WebPage / SoftwareApplication / FAQPage): Schema is still load-bearing for citations.
  • Canonical URL set in <head>: Prevents AI from picking the wrong URL.
  • TTFB under ~500 ms for AI-bot user agents: TTFB above ~1.5s = silent 499 exclusion before the page is judged.
  • Markdown variant served via UA negotiation: ~80% token savings vs HTML; more signal survives context.
  • FAQ section with question-as-H3 + plain-answer pattern: Lifts AI citation for question-shaped queries.
  • First-hand practitioner voice + named author schema: First-hand experience is its own E-E-A-T primitive.
  • External mentions in real communities (Reddit / dev posts): AEO is decided off-domain; on-domain alone caps you.
  • One canonical page per concept (no -free / -online variants): March 2026 core update penalized fragmented utility pages.
